"The History Of A Chocolate Chip Cookie": A Sweet Accidental Invention

Chocolate chip cookies are some of the most popular sweet treats for people in India. The cookie is one of the best sellers from cookie manufacturers in India. But did you know that chocolate chip cookies, one of the world's most beloved treats, were created by accident?

In 1930, Mrs. Ruth Graves Wakefield and her husband, Kenneth, were running the Toll House Inn on Route 18 near Whitman, Massachusetts. They invented the chocolate chip cookie when they ran out of baker's chocolate and decided to coat chopped nuts in semisweet chocolate to make a dessert for guests. This cooking genius is frequently said to have come up with the recipe because she was running low on supplies.

The Toll House Inn was designed with convenience in mind. In addition to a good night's sleep and sustenance, the couple also wanted to provide delicious edibles for guests. One such guest was Ruth Wakefield who, while reading newspaper articles about recipes using Nestle chocolate bars, felt inspired to create her own cookie recipe. To whip up some batches of the new delicacy, she used her kitchen aid mixer while it was idle at the inn.

On one occasion, Wakefield found herself in need of a dessert recipe on the fly, so she used some chopped-up chunks of chocolate bar and added them to her cookie dough. Although this experiment didn't produce the desired result, it did create a new celebrity: the Wakefield Chocolate Chip Cookie!

A Gift to the World - The Original Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

The original recipe for the cookie famous for its chocolate chips was published in a Boston newspaper and immediately became America's favourite. The story is different depending on who you ask, but generally these drop cookies were named Butter Drop Do Cookies. Wakeford trademarked them as Chocolate Chip Cookies in the yellow pages of her first published cookbook, Toll House Tried and True Recipes, in 1936.

The creator of this widely-loved cookie was given a lifetime supply of chocolate in exchange for the recipe. In 1939, the now-ubiquitous teardrop-shaped chocolate chip was finally created after many attempts by Wakefield. Purists in the Indian cookie industry have their own unique take on this delicious treat.

It's time to treat yourself to some delicious, buttery, Belgian chocolate chip cookies. Linoui's Choco Chip Cookies are perfect with hot chocolate. Every crunch of these delicious treats will fill your taste buds with a burst of chocolatey flavour.
